Forecast Summary
352 PM CDT MON MAY 20 2013 A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER NORTH GEORGIA WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP MOST OF THE MID SOUTH DRY OVERNIGHT. HOWEVER...THE RIDGE WILL WEAKEN A LITTLE FROM NORTHEAST ARKANSAS UP INTO SOUTHEAST MISSOURI... SO SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE ABLE TO MOVE IN FROM OKLAHOMA AND WESTERN MISSOURI LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THEY SHOULD LOSE STRENGTH AS THEY WORK INTO THE DRY AIR ALONG THE EDGE OF THE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE. AS THE RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO WEAKEN AND MOVE EAST TUESDAY A WARM AND HUMID AIR MASS WILL MAKE ITS WAY INTO THE REGION. MEANWHILE A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE TOWARD THE MID SOUTH. BY LATE TUESDAY AND INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE DEVELOPING. SOME COULD BE STRONG AND PRODUCE GUSTY WINDS AND HEAVY RAINS. CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL GRADUALLY DIMINISH BY THURSDAY AS ANOTHER RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE MID SOUTH FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK. HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS WEEK WILL MAINLY BE IN THE 80S WITH LOWS IN THE 60S.
